Vancouver’s Best Comfort Food

Ah, Raincouver. This gloomy time of year is tough for many people in the city. Personally, I don’t mind this season and the stormy weather it brings. Hearing the rain pelting on the roof and cozying up indoors by the fire sounds like perfection to me! This is also the time of year that I can justify eating all the delicious comfort food and not feel at all guilty about it. Lucky for us, Vancouver has an amazing comfort food scene that will guarantee to warm you up and fuel your soul. I am not new to Vancouver’s foodie scene, and I am here to share all of my favourites! Here is a list of my top favourite comfort food restaurants to hit this season, along with items on the menu you won’t want to miss:

1. Burgoo – With five locations around the city, Burgoo is a MUST try. Menu items such as the “fondumental” appetizer, macaroni & cheese, and the chicken pot pie will have you warmed up in no time. My personal favourite is their famous “Gooey Cheese Grillers” paired with a tomato soup- how can you go wrong? Burgoo definitely lives up to their “Food for Comfort” promise.

2. Meet on Main – If you’re craving comfort food without all the meat and dairy, Meet is the place to go. The Sweet-Chili Cauliflower, TeeM Poutine, and Seoul Bowl are my personal favourites. Mind you, everything on the menu is a win and 100% vegan!

3. The Naam – The Naam is a vegetarian restaurant that happens to be open 24/7 to accommodate those comfort food cravings at all hours of the day/night. The Tuscan Nachos have to be one of the worlds best inventions, especially to enjoy on a rainy day with a side of sesame friends and the Naam’s signature miso gravy. Yes, this is my order.

4. Jam Cafe – The ultimate breakfast comfort food. Sweet, or savoury, Jam will cater to your every craving. Savoury- Fried Chicken Benny with crispy shredded hash browns. Sweet- The Cracker Jack (Nutella and banana stuffed french toast.) Or, if you’re craving both at the same time, try the Chicken and Waffles.

Needless to say, Vancouver is dominating the comfort food scene to help us Vancouverites survive this cold, rainy, weather. Now, my mouth is watering and I am off to get cozy at one of these spots! I hope this post was helpful and brightened your gloomy day.
